About
Welcome to This Old Mission! This site is devoted to documenting the efforts of the San Juan Bautista Mission Conservation Program. Since its inception in the fall of 1995, both the Alta California Mission Research Project and the SJB Mission Conservation Program have been supported through the efforts of CSU Monterey Bay Institute for Archaeology and Service Learning students, community volunteers, and dedicated patrons, intent on preserving the historic integrity and collections of the Old Mission. Through our education and orientation programs, we have long promoted the understanding of early California culture, heritage, and history for students and school educators, patrons of the Mission, and visitors.
We have been graciously funded by the California Missions Foundation, and the Louise M. Davies Foundation and Charles D. and Frances K. Field Funds administered by Mr. Philip Hudner, and supporters like you. Said funding supports the San Juan Bautista Mission Conservation Program supervised by Project Manager, Dr. Rubén G. Mendoza, and the students of the California State University, Monterey Bay. Your contributions will continue to fund our efforts to preserve the Old Mission and its historic collections.
